What is
pemf?
Pulsed electromagnetic field therapy (PEMF) is an alternative method of rehabilitation for cells and tissues without the use of pharmaceuticals. Thousands of studies around the world have proven the safety and benefits of PEMF as an alternative application for a multitude of conditions, improved health, and enhanced athletic performance.
This unique form of therapy is FDA approved for use in promoting healing of non-union bone fractures as well as easing the pain of migraine headaches and combatting depression. It is in the process of being registered for many other uses including sports injuries.

It can effectively – and safely – be used on humans as well as both large and small animals.
How does
it work?
The movement of ions in and out of cell membranes creates a natural electric charge, and if it’s compromised through injury, toxicity or oxygen/nutrient deficiency, ion movement is altered and the charge of the cell membrane changes.
Such a change to the ions can profoundly affect the metabolism of a healthy cell and its ability to absorb oxygen and nutrition while releasing waste and toxins.
The PEMF device creates a gentle pulse of electromagnetic field when placed upon the animal, which is invisible to the naked eye. Utilizing a variety of attachments, any area of the body can be effectively targeted, allowing for decrease in inflammation and increase in circulation.
This therapy does not cause pain, no sedatives are needed, and is generally relaxing, noting some form of light to strong involuntary muscle contractions.

What are the benefits?
PEMF can accelerate tissue healing by improving the quality of calcium produced in the body (as seen in scientific studies of healing non-union bone fractures and muscle tears).
In oxygen deprived and inflamed tissues, PEMF works to facilitate repair of bones/tendons/ligaments due to surgery, injury, or disease.
There is evidence that PEMF can accelerate the healing of these tissues by stimulating fibroblasts.
Enhanced muscle function resulting from PEMF can promote the reduction of lactic acid inside the cells, a waste product of muscular cell. It may enhance the synthesis of proteins, allowing cells to regenerate fibers from quickly.
It may also result in enhanced endurance, strength, recovery and muscle production improvement. It can allow muscles to work harder and longer, and to recover more quickly by helping to correct muscle fibers and cells that are in spasm – decreasing tension and reducing pain caused by these perpetual contractions.
